From the challenging streets of California USA, Bohemia unloads automatic rounds of street-savvy Punjabi raps interlaced with pounding kicks, chunky bass lines and contagious melodies. This new genre of music, known as Desi-Hip-Hop is not only for those who speak Punjabi but for those who love rap music. Bohemia’s lyrics expose us to the western streets from a young Desi’s point of view; make way for the pioneer of Desi-Hip-Hop, king of Punjabi rap.

Bohemia's first album, Vich Pardesan De (In The Foreign Land), was released independently in 2002 and as soon among the top ten most requested songs on BBC radio1 in the UK. His next album, Pesa Nasha Pyar (Money Drugs Love), was released in 2006 by Universal Music India making it the first ever full-length Desi-Rap album to be released by a major label world wide.

Close on the heels of the massive success of ‘CC2C’ (Chandni Chowk to China OST) where Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar rapped to the words and music of Bohemia, comes Da Rap Star – the brand new album.

Da Ra Star is truly an artist’s album where Bohemia’s written and produced all the tracks the way he felt it should be; this time a few things with a personal touch as the album unveils…

 An interesting Intro ‘Guess Who’s back’ invites you into the groove that is to follow. The video track ‘Ek Tera Pyar’ features the articulate voice of upcoming California-based singer Devika Chawla. It’s hip-hop clubber’s delight by all means. Followed by ‘Punjabi Rapstar’ where one gets a taste of Live Bass played by Vince ‘DJ Daris’ Hudson.

 This time as a tribute to all time favorite Punjabi legend Malkit Singh, Bohemia has reproduced a version of the old-school super-hit ‘Gur Nal Ishq’ turning it into a Desi-Hip-Hop classic. Watch out for the Desi-Hip-Hop love-ballad called ‘Dil’. ‘Dil’ as Bohemia says, ‘is truly close to my heart.  I went through some things in life that I speak about on this track.’ 

 As a follow up album to Pesa Nasha Pyar, Bohemia has tried to set the record straight with heart-felt rap lyrics along with some great sing-alongs. The production is top-class and the sound has been maintained as original as can be possibly engineered. Da Rap Star features 15 rocking hip-hop tracks, including 3 bonus tracks.
