Malkit Singh

Hailed as the 'King of Bhangra,' Malkit Singh is one of the few Punjabi icons around in today's Bhangra industry. Punjabi's all around the world look up to Malkit's original style, melodious voice and unique music as he represents the true traditional Punjabi culture to worldwide audiences. His fan base keeps on growing from strength to strength as he encompasses an audience of all ages, from young to old. Malkit has maintained his true Punjabi image throughout his career, which people have respected and can look up to him as a role model. His popular music and videos have won over today's generation of youngsters as well as keeping his die-hard fans happy, and will continue to do so in years to come.

His last album released was "21st Chapter" by Universal Music India featuring the hugely popular and classic "Jago Aaya". Singh and his backup band Golden Star have toured in 27 countries.

Most famous for the songs "Gur Nalo Ishq Mita", "Tootak Tootak Tootiyan", "Kurri Garam Jayee", as well as recently, "Chal Hun," & "Jind Mahi" from the blockbuster Bend It Like Beckham film soundtrack.

- In 1997, he was conferred the Recognition by the city of Los Angeles for his service to the Indian community.

- Listed in the 2000 Guinness Book of World Records as the biggest selling bhangra artist of all time.

- In 2001, Singh was awarded the 27th Convocation Gold Medal Award Doctorate by Guru Nanak Dev University.

- Performed at UCLA's Bruin Bhangra, 2006

- He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours.
