Fitoor is an expression that reflects eccentricity - a gripping positive energy that leads one to a massive creative explosion! And that is what this album is all about. And the album comes from one of the biggest names in Bollywood playback in our times - Mohit Chauhan.
Mohit is ex-Silk Route singer-composer-guitarist who's been on a successful run in Bollywood with smashing hits like 'Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai' (Kaminey), 'Yeh Dooriyan' (Love Aaj Kal), 'Massakalli' (Delhi 6) - just to name a recent few.
Right from Dooba Dooba to Masakalli, Mohit has been lauded by a host of Bollywood music directors right from A R Rahman to Pritam and Vishal Bharadwaj.
About The Album:
Fitoor begins with the title track bringing one to a soft rock galaxy where Mohit's voice and slide guitars, render an excellent number to make it, befittingly the first track of the album for a great start. Challeya follows right up, to give a maverick feel and here one gets to enjoy his free willing vocal capacity. This track along with Sajna displays a great combination of modern rock with some pahadi mountain folk influences.Excellent acoustic numbers like Meri Tarah and Mai Ni Meriye offers Mohit's romantic, emotional dreamscapes. Musafir is another signature-Mohit-ballad with some great riffs and an amazing guitar solo.
Uff Yeh Nazara, Main Hoon Badal, Jeene De are outright soft rock numbers that grow on to the listener sharing a great live audience vibe. The songs are very hummable, pleasant sing-alongs as an ode to contemporary Indian music that Mohit has contributed to.
Babaji has an interesting intro of a recording with Mohit having an impromptu jam with a not-so-very-distant bird cheerfully cooing in the hills.
Special mention needs to be cited for Mohit Chauhan's use of a variety of exotic instruments in the album like the mandolin, shamisen, a xaphoon, a didgeridoo, dobra guitar and the effervescent harmonica played by him.
Slated to be one of the biggest album of this festive season - Atmospheric and fresh as mint - that's Mohit Chauhan's Fitoor!
